Portraits, Figures, Landscapes and more by the artist Mike Murtagh
A portrait is a unique and personal gift.
More people want a connection with the art on their walls. This is a wonderful trend and with the same old stuff in all the high street shops yet with so much accessible to us all, it is such a great feeling to have something personal in your home.
I will create for you a picture that will be cherished for years, and is a very affordable present. Please take a look around at the examples in the gallery, and find out more about me here.
I am also available to conduct workshops and demonstrations and to provide tuition on an individual basis. Latest information on these activities can be found in the Blog.

ART WORKSHOPS & TUITION
Learn Art with Me
In addition to working on my own projects, I like sharing my knowledge through the different classes and workshops that I offer. I enjoy teaching people how to express their artistic abilities and inclinations. Whether you’re a beginner or an advanced artist, come to a class and start learning the techniques of creating wonderful art. Individual tuition is also available.
Drawing is the basis of all art. Learn how to create your own masterpiece with instruction in Drawing, using charcoal, graphite and pastel. In these classes, we will start from the basics and travel to more complex subjects. All ages and levels of experience are welcome in this workshop that intends to inspire people to explore their own artistic expression.
Meet new people and have some fun with my Painting class, while you brush up on your skills. This is a fun and excellent way to break out of your comfort zone while working on your artistic talent. I personally work with each attendee in order to discover and work on artistic shortcomings by breaking from the most basic art techniques.
Check out upcoming exhibitions in which I am involved. I’m pleased to say that my work has been getting more attention from visitors to the website and to the exhibitions of my work. The artistic journey is a long one, but I am finally becoming comfortable with the art world and its many characters. Take a look at my current and upcoming exhibitions below.
AFAS Exhibition - "Articles Of War"
6 -11 November 2017
I have 5 pictures in this, the Armed Forces Art Society's first regional Exhibition. It is an exciting departure from the usual format of AFAS exhibitions in that it has an explicitly military theme, although the works are highly-imaginative in concept, style, execution and medium, covering most aspects of traditional and contemporary approaches.
Find out when and where I’ll be showing my work by staying in touch.
SOME COMMENTS FROM CUSTOMERS
"Somewhat belated, but I would like to say how much I enjoyed the day learning so much about portrait drawing. It was most instructive and, for a mere novice with very limited experience, an achievable outcome. Thank you"
"Thanks for a lovely evening of life drawing, the great company and also for your advice and encouragement."
Looking forward to next time.
"Wonderful - and taken from one of my favourite sculptures."
